Everybody talks about being successful. Everybody wants it. Unfortunately, that’s not enough. Hard work and dedication are always required. That is what separates those who merely want it from those who see no other option but to seize it regardless of the cost.
Everyone knows whether they are failing or succeeding - living below their potential or living up to it. It’s no mystery beyond self-analysis. What are the indicators that you’re on the right path? One of the best metrics to use is how lonely you are in your endeavors. The lonelier the better.
Most people won’t understand the dedication and sacrifice required to achieve your dreams, and most of those that do won’t be interested in what’s required to achieve it. When you find yourself alone in the pursuit of greatness, this is an indication that you’re on the right path.
So, look around. Are you blending into the masses or are you setting yourself apart? Do you see other people on your runs? Do you show up earlier and leave later? Do you sharpen your mind with books or do you watch TV and waste time on social media? Do you make decisions based on principles and commitments or based on feelings? Do you make excuses or do you make it happen?
Take encouragement from loneliness in your pursuit of greatness.
