“All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
It’s easy to get stuck in routines and comfort zones. Before we know it, everyday can feel like Groundhogs Day. Though routines can optimize efficiency and utility for everyday life, they can also stifle creativity and growth.
Exposure to new situations, information, skills, and experiences drastically shape our lives. They stretch, grow, and ultimately mold us into who we are today and the people we will be tomorrow. Without them, we may stay alive, but we won’t truly be living the lives we were meant to live. If we want to grow, we need to seek challenges.
The most interesting people in the world are the ones with the most intense or broadest array of experiences. No one is inspired by mundane, average, or safe. If you find yourself experiencing most of your adventures digitally, or if you feel like you’re constantly running on a hamster wheel with rare intervals of mediocre excitement, you need to break your routine and shake things up.
Expose, learn, optimize, and repeat. Constantly seek new experiences. Your future self and loved ones will thank you for it.
